The RECOVERY Trial: the world's largest study of COVID-19 treatments

The Oxford Population Health Communications Team responded to an urgent public health crisis, delivering extensive media coverage that helped to recruit patients into what has become the world's largest trial of COVID-19 treatments - the RECOVERY trial. Working closely with the trial team, journalists and partner organisations, they generated over 15,000 items of media coverage internationally, helping to ensure that trial results were adopted widely - results that have subsequently saved numerous lives. The attention generated resulted in the discussion of clinical trials by world leaders and is influencing the way in which research will be undertaken in the future.
